Established in 1974, Chuan Hiap Hin Sauce Factory has more than 40 years of experience in wholesale sauce and condiments. They are known for their “Bell Brand” premium quality soy sauce, and also produces other condiments such as vinegar and sweet sauce.
With an ageing workforce, Chuan Hiap Hin Sauce Factory has to plan for the future in order to keep operations running smoothly even after the more experienced employees retire. This is especially important since they have trouble retaining younger employees and training them to be as competent as the senior employees. Hence, they engaged us to address the current issues and implement pre-emptive measures for the possible challenges in the years ahead.
Human Capital Consulting
In view of the ageing workforce, we recommended Chuan Hiap Hin Sauce Factory to set up a new Mature Talents Programme. This programme adopts a two-pronged approach to:
1) cultivate the ageing workforce,
2) help the older workers transfer their knowledge and experience to younger colleagues in a structured manner.
It is a two-way mentoring programme that could include training, open discussions, video tutorials etc to promote cooperation between employees of different age groups.
Process Management
To improve employees’ comprehension and retention of procedural information, we proposed to create Standard Work Instructions (SWI). These documents are especially helpful to new hires and ensures that employees are sufficiently trained, with full knowledge of essential processes to run business operations smoothly and efficiently. Besides that, proper process documentation assists to streamline employee training and increase its effectiveness.
