This course equips participants with the knowledge and skills to design, develop and conduct an on-the job training (OJT) programme within their organisation. OJT is an effective form of training, as 70 percent of the knowledge of individuals is obtained from job-related experiences under the 70-20-10 model for learning and development. This proven model serves as a general guideline for organisations seeking to maximise the effectiveness of their learning and development programmes. The other 20 percent of knowledge is obtained from interactions with others, and 10 per cent from formal educational events.
This course is for managers, supervisors, trainers, and anyone whose job scope involves training and/or coaching others in the organisation.
Upon completion of the course, participants would be able to:
- Appreciate the usefulness and effectiveness of OJT
- Understand when to conduct OJT to meet the organisation’s and learners’ needs
- Plan for structured OJT to optimise its effectiveness
- Implement OJT in a systematic manner to develop staff
- Facilitate the learning and growth of the learners
